Young people don't like advertising- most find digital marketing irrelevant and irritating. Instead they respond to engagement: interactive and creative moments that are participatory and relevant. These preferences continue to shape the digital marketing landscape: a massive uptake in ad blocking technology and a greater focus on platform spend from advertisers has allowed the likes of Instagram, Facebook and Snap to monopolise access to young customers.
