Lucy Jones is a designer with a focus on solution-based design. It is her mission to marry style and function with the intent of addressing a larger portion of society often overlooked in the fashion design process. Lucy Jones was recently an "Innovator in Residence" at XRC Labs, an accelerator in the retail and consumer goods industries sponsored by the Parsons School of Design and Kurt Salmon (part of Accenture Strategy).
Originally from Wales, Jones moved to New York to study fashion design at Parsons School of Design at The New School. Her award-winning collection, ‘Seated Design’, granted her Parsons’ Womenswear Designer of the year Class of 2015, as well as the Kering ‘Empowering Imagination’ 4.0 award and Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2016.
Most recently, Jones was commissioned to prototype a pair of “Seated Pantyhose” for MoMA’s second fashion exhibition entitled “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” Jones was also commissioned to produce site-specific work by curators Dr. Hazel Clark and Ilari Laamen for the Museum of Art and Design(MAD) exhibition “fashion after Fashion. In September 2016 Jones was one of very few invited for a “Design for All” conference at the White House.
Upon graduation Jones was one of three selected nationally to participate in a residency at Eileen Fisher in partnership with the CFDA. The project concluded with a scalable, profitable and sustainable solution for damaged post-consumer garments accumulated in the ‘take-back’ program, it lives on today under the name ‘Eileen Fisher Renew’. In 2014 Jones’ project, ‘Accessible Design’, was awarded a William Randolph Hearst scholarship for ‘social innovation’ and two Royal Society of the Arts awards for ‘design innovation’ and ‘fashion leadership’.
